I’ve never used a shampoo bar before so was intrigued by this product. I’m always a little wary when testing out shampoos (you can’t hide if something goes wrong) so picked a home based day to test this out. In the end, I’m glad I did as I’m really disappointed in this product. I knew as soon as I started working it into my scalp that is wasn’t for me. It left my scalp feeling tight, dry and uncomfortable. It also left a greasy residue on my hair. I actually jumped back in the shower after drying to wash with my normal shampoo as I couldn’t sit with greasy looking hair all day. I asked my husband to give it a go just in case it was just me and he also said it left his hair feeling greasy. Which is the last thing you want from a shampoo! I will say I was impressed by its lather as often natural shampoos don’t have a good foam.

Like the shampoo bar, I was very intrigued by the solid lotion bar. I have used the massage bars from Lush before but they create an oil on the skin rather than a lotion. Instead of a solid bar, this product was in a cute rose shape. The idea is you rub it over your skin and your body temperature will cause the bar to melt into your skin. I found it took a little while to start to melt but once you got it softened it melted onto the skin easily. It is more like a body butter than a lotion in that it leaves a thick layer of shea butter on the skin. It does leave the skin with a waxy feel which makes getting dressed straight after difficult. I found the best time to use this is after a long bath before bed. This way it melts right into your skin (which is warmed from the bath). It sinks in overnight and you do wake up with moisturised skin. I understand why it’s unscented, but I would have preferred some kind of fragrance to this. Although saying that unlike some unscented products it doesn’t have an unpleasant scent.

You’ve probably already guessed from my soap chat above I wasn’t that keen to try this soap. As I said earlier I find soap bars leave my skin tight and dry and I don’t enjoy using them. I’m much more of a liquid soap girl. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this soap. It creates a rich creamy lather which feels soft and moisturising on the skin. There was no dry, tight feeling on the skin after rinsing off either. I’ve been using this to wash my hands and haven’t felt the need to reach for the hand lotion straight after every wash. This is definitely my favourite of the 3 products I tried.
